PlanetiQ

The planetary boundary layer (PBL), the lowest part of the atmosphere, changes constantly and sometimes rapidly, driven mostly by the daily heating and cooling cycle over both land and ocean. Studying the PBL around the globe has been difficult because dense observations mostly come from short field campaigns or single sites. Conventional infrared and microwave sounders don't help much, since their vertical resolution is coarse and clouds and weather often block their signals. This webinar looks at how PlanetiQ's GNSS radio occultation (GNSS-RO) data can fill that gap with high-resolution, globally distributed profiles for studying PBL height and behavior.
