The teenage years are a time of enormous growth and change, as young people begin to work out who they are, where they fit and what matters to them. For autistic teenagers, understanding their own strengths, differences and the way their brain works can be an important part of developing a positive sense of who they are.

In this session, **Dr Bettina Hohnen** will look at autism through the lens of the developing teenage brain, including behaviour, executive functioning, communication and relationships. We’ll talk about how parents can better understand what is going on for their teenager, stay connected as they become more independent, and help them develop the skills, confidence and self-understanding they need to move through adolescence with a strong sense of themselves.
