Organisations planning a move to SAP S/4HANA or RISE typically focus on their migration path and how best to ensure a smooth transition.

Their focus is on the S/4HANA application itself, infrastructure needs, data conversion, and custom code cleanup.

However, one important component is often considered much later: archiving.

Over time, SAP systems accumulate large volumes of data. This includes business documents, attachments, print lists, and other historical data.

These may be held in legacy content servers, storage platforms or broader ECM systems that are costly to maintain or poorly suited to the future S/4HANA architecture.

Doing nothing pre-transition can affect migration scope, infrastructure requirements, compliance, system performance and complexity.

In this webinar, we will examine why SAP archiving should form part of migration planning.

We will explain the difference between document archiving, SAP data archiving and long-term information lifecycle management.

We will also consider the practical choices available to organisations: retaining an existing archive, migrating archived content to a modern platform, replacing an oversized ECM environment or progressively modernising the archive alongside the SAP transformation.

Finally, we will introduce tia®, a specialist SAP archiving platform from kgs, and explain how a streamlined archive can support S/4HANA, RISE, on-premises and hybrid SAP environments.

Attendees will leave with a practical framework for assessing their current archive and determining what needs to change before, during or after their SAP migration.
