G.V() – more formally, gdotv, Ltd., and pronounced "gee-dot-vee" – has been taking the graph world by storm over the past few years. Their product is described as a graph database IDE, providing an all-in-one graph query client where one can write/test/debug queries in using Cypher, Gremlin, SPARQL and other query languages, then visualize and analyze query results, as well as iterating on graph schema discovery across your data sources. In practice, gdotv is connecting many graph technologies – we counted 33 integrations among popular platforms. There's been broad adoption by the cloud providers, using gdotv as a “lingua franca” connecting graph platforms. The gdotv team also connects the communities engaged with these graph technologies. The highly recommended “The Weekly Edge” newsletter has become a go-to source for timely info about graph technologies, vendors, conferences, and so on.

Looking back at the company's first blog post in 2023, founder Arthur Bigeard took a detailed look at how SQL databases provide toolkits to help developers, analysts, stakeholders, et al., collaborate together. Having a cross-vendor graph IDE was missing – and with that, some aspects of software engineering practices weren't likely to develop for graph technologies. So gdotv entered the market with rapid adoption. For example, you can begin writing a query in Cypher, switch to Gremlin and debug at a lower level using more programmatic approaches, then switch back to Cypher.

In this episode we’re delighted to host Christian Miles from G.V() as our guest to discuss connecting the world’s graph technologies and related communities. Plus, Christian's perspectives looking ahead at graph technologies in 2026.
