Discover how integrated multi-omics can unlock deeper biological insight and accelerate biomarker discovery. In this live webinar, Dr. Vivek Das of Novo Nordisk will explore findings from a recent Genome Medicine study that combined transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, and clinical data from more than 700 patients with carotid atherosclerosis. The session will highlight how integrated analysis using the DIABLO framework revealed key molecular signatures of plaque instability and demonstrated that metabolomics provides critical functional context and significant information gain beyond single-omic approaches. Attendees will leave with practical ideas for applying multi-omic integration to translational research, mechanism-focused studies, and biomarker discovery programs.
In This Webinar You Will Learn:
· Why integrated multiomic analysis can reveal stronger and more biologically meaningful insights than running several single-omic analyses in parallel
· How metabolomics adds critical functional context and drives substantial information gain in multiomic study design
· How the DIABLO framework was used in the paper to identify cross-omic signatures linked to atherosclerotic instability
· What practical lessons researchers can apply from this study to improve their own biomarker discovery, translational research, and multiomic analysis strategies
Speakers
Vivek Das
Principal Scientist at Novo Nordisk
Vivek Das, PhD, MSc, PhD is a Translational Research and Clinical Insight Leader at Novo Nordisk, working at the intersection of translational omics, computational biology, and clinical data science. His work focuses on turning complex, high-dimensional biological and clinical data into clear, decision-relevant insight that inform clinical development and portfolio strategy. Across late-stage clinical trials, biomarker programs, and cross-functional collaborations, he brings a strong emphasis on analytical rigor, strategic interpretation, and real-world impact.
Dr. Das has built his career across industry and academic research environments spanning Denmark, the United States, and Italy. Before becoming Lead Data Scientist, he served in multiple scientific roles at Novo Nordisk, including Senior Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Scientist, contributing to biomarker and target discovery in areas such as diabetes, kidney disease, immunology, and cardiometabolic research. Earlier in his career, he worked at the European Institute of Oncology on cancer biology and omics integration, following doctoral training in Molecular Medicine with a specialization in Computational Systems Biology at the European School of Molecular Medicine in Milan. He also holds a master’s degree in bioinformatics from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. In addition to his scientific leadership, Dr. Das is active in open science, mentoring, and method development. His public work highlights interests in multi-omics and clinical data integration, biomarker discovery, applied machine learning, single-cell and predictive modelling, and the broader role of data science in drug development. He has contributed to open-source projects in multiomics integration and feature selection, served as a scientific advisory board member for Pythia Biosciences, and participated in collaborations with leading academic and translational research groups, including Karolinska Institutet. For this webinar, Dr. Das brings both scientific depth and practical perspective as a researcher who works directly on applying advanced multiomic methods to important translational questions.
