Understanding ADHD in Teens: what’s really going on

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that can influence many aspects of a teenager’s life, from how they manage emotions, motivation and impulses to relationships, school, self-esteem and everyday demands. What parents see on the outside can sometimes look like laziness, defiance, lack of effort or overreacting, when something very different may be going on underneath.
This session with Liz Ambler will help parents understand more about what is really going on for a teenager with ADHD and how they can support them. We’ll look at motivation and getting started, intense emotions and behaviour, confidence and self-esteem, as well as the strengths that can come with ADHD. We’ll also look at the important role parents can play, particularly during adolescence, when young people with ADHD can be more vulnerable to anxiety and low mood.
