OCD & Intrusive Thoughts in Teens: understanding what’s going on and how to support
12
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
OCD can show up in ways that parents may not immediately recognise. A teenager might repeatedly seek reassurance, avoid certain situations, become caught up in checking or routines, or struggle with intrusive thoughts and mental rituals that nobody else can see. Sometimes parents simply know their teenager is struggling, without understanding what might be behind it.
This session will help parents understand the different ways OCD can affect teenagers, what to look out for and how best to respond. We’ll look at practical ways to support a teenager at home, what can sometimes make things harder, and when it may be time to seek further help.
