This session will take a deep dive into sperm health with Prof. Ralf Henkel and patient Shaun Greenaway. We’ll aim to understand sperm testing, lifestyle vs medical interventions, when to see a GP, treatment pathways including varicocele, TESE, micro-TESE and ICSI and of course find out how it feels to be a male fertility patient experiencing all this.

Diagnosed with azoospermia, Shaun experienced the shame and isolation that surrounds male infertility. Now a proud dad to donor-conceived twins, he shares his journey via Instagram (@Knackered_Knackers), using his voice to support and empower others.

Shaun is an accredited Coach and co-host of The Male Fertility Podcast. Through NeXYs Fertility, he’s helping to transform male fertility support by providing access to expert advice alongside a powerful peer-to-peer community - ensuring no man has to face fertility struggles alone or uninformed again.

Prof. Ralf Henkel

Prof. Ralf Henkel

Prof. Ralf Henkel is a reproductive biologist with an international career spanning Germany, South Africa, Peru, and the UK. He earned his PhD in 1990, held academic positions at the University of Giessen, Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena, and later became Senior Professor and Head of Medical Bioscience at the University of the Western Cape, where he also served as Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies. Since 2020, he has been with LogixX Pharma in the UK. He holds honorary and visiting professorships in India, Peru, South Africa, and the UK, including Imperial College London. Widely recognised in his field, he serves on multiple editorial boards, is Associate Editor of Reproductive Science, and Editor-in-Chief of Andrologia.
