As the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) extends to new sectors and strengthens its climate targets, biomethane has become a critical asset for corporates and energy players’ decarbonization strategies. But what do these changes mean for market participants?

Join Lisa Alschibaja (GO2 Markets) and Stephen Bowe (GreenGasAdvisors) for a discussion on biomethane’s evolving role in EU ETS I & II and BEHG. Drawing on their experience from trading desks and consulting, this webinar will cover:

  • Real-world case studies of corporations trading biomethane at scale
  • Advisory insights on biomethane approaches across sectors
  • How ETS frameworks vary across Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, and Spain—including pricing, policy differences, and key pitfalls to avoid
  • What’s next in the EU carbon and biomethane market

This event is suited to a wide range of professionals across the European carbon and energy markets. Whether focused on compliance, market opportunities, or policy impacts, attendees will gain valuable insights on how to effectively engage with biomethane within the current regulatory environment.

Lisa Alschibaja

Green Gas Lead @ GO2 Markets

For over five years, Lisa has specialized in green gas—particularly biomethane—at Go2 Markets. Her deep understanding of this dynamic and complex market enables her to effectively connect producers with end users across Europe.

With the implementation of ETS II approaching in 2027, many Go2 clients are now actively seeking to secure biomethane volumes as part of their decarbonization strategies.

This raises several important questions: In which countries can biomethane be used to reduce or avoid EUA (EU Emissions Allowance) costs? What quality standards must be met to ensure compliance? Who are the relevant regulatory authorities, and what key considerations must clients be aware of when entering these markets?
