Mobilizing Innovation: Bali's Path to Circular Tourism | ISF 2026 Side Event

As part of the Road to Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2026, Enviu is hosting an official Pre-ISF Side Event. Through the Destination Zero Waste Bali (DZWB) initiative – led by Enviu in partnership with the TUI Care Foundation and the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative (GTPI) – this session presents Bali as a working model of circular tourism. 

About this session

Bali’s tourism sector is already starting to practice circular tourism: rooms free from single-use plastics, suppliers shifting to reuse and refill system, and global frameworks being translated into hotel-level operations. The session will bring together government, international sustainability frameworks, funders, and hospitality operators to discuss the process behind this transition: the policy support behind it, the funding and technical backing from international partners, and the practical steps hotel operators have taken on the ground as well as the constraints it is facing. We will walk through what’s working, what it will take to fully transition into circular tourism, and how this could be scaled and replicated across different destinations. 

Organizing partners

Destination Zero Waste Bali is led by Enviu in partnership with the TUI Care Foundation and the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, working to accelerate Bali's tourism sector toward a circular, zero-waste future. DZWB partners with accommodation providers, suppliers, staff, and tourists to reduce single-use packaging waste through advisory support, behavior-change campaigns, and scalable reuse and refill solutions.
