Join us in a discussion with Alexis Watson, Dean of Students at St. Paul's School for Girls, exploring the critical shift from surface-level inclusion to deep identity affirmation for students of color navigating Predominantly White Institutions. Grounded in research and centered on reflection and actionable frameworks, this session will equip participants with tools to foster spaces where students are valued and empowered to fully show up as themselves.

This session will offer space for reflection and provide actionable strategies on:

  • Understanding how belonging, racial identity development, and self-worth are shaped in PWIs
  • Affirming students’ lived experiences, strengths, and cultural wealth in intentional ways
  • Moving beyond performative inclusion through culturally responsive practice
  • Cultivating environments where students can thrive with confidence, authenticity, and purpose

Participants will leave prepared to take concrete strategies to affirm students more intentionally, respond to institutional barriers more effectively, and take meaningful steps toward creating environments where students are seen, heard, and supported.
